In November 2016, at the invitation of one of Vietnam’s leading Supermarket Chains, New Zealand Trade Centre attended the 2016 Vietnam Food & Technology Expo which took place in Ho Chi Minh City from the 16th– 19th of November.
Vietnam represents a market of over 96 million. The middle class, like China, is increasingly becoming more discerning and wealthy.

ANZBC(ASEAN New Zealand Business Council) helps to promote the businesses of its members and develop new opportunities. Together with ANZBC and Vietnam Trade Office, NZTC organized the breakfast meeting to help Vietnam enterprises and NZ local businesses build business cooperation.

On 9th of June, the delegation of Kaifeng Municipal Government visited New Zealand Trade Centre.
Kaifeng is one of the major seven ancient capitals in China. It’s also called the “capital city of seven dynasties”. Located in the east of China’s Henan Province, the ancient city of Kaifeng is among the first batch of state-level historical and cultural cities publicized by the Chinese government.
The delegation presented videos introducing the history, culture and current development of Kaifeng. President of NZTC, Adam Martin welcomed the delegation in traditional Maori words, and made a presentation of New Zealand’s business environment, premium products, export trading and relationship with China. More than 50 Chinese companies scoping investment opportunities in New Zealand’s agricultural sector have descended on Auckland for a conference being held on 25th May.
The 55-member delegation of small and medium-sized companies attending Bank of China’s inaugural China-New Zealand Agribusiness Investment and Trade Conference is seeking to “match-make” with 120 New Zealand firms.
The local firms come from a range of sectors including farming, fishing, brewing, health supplements and agricultural technology.
The Chinese banking giant’s vice president, Gao Yingxin, said New Zealand agribusinesses led the world in areas such as dairy and horticulture and badly needed to increase market share in emerging economies.
“China has a huge market capacity [for] farm products and needs to import a large number of high-quality and healthy agricultural products from New Zealand,” he said.

The Vietnam Trade Office and New Zealand Trade Centre (NZTC) worked together successfully to host the Hanoi trading company, Hapro, in Wellington on Friday 20th May 2016. The meeting went so well, that by days end a “Bilateral Partnership Agreement” was signed by the parties.
Vietnam Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Nguyen Viet Dzung, witnessed the agreement. The Ambassador was enthusiastic about recent increasing development of diplomatic and trade relationships between the two countries. Sharing his wisdom, Ambassador Dzung said “that real trade relationships will prosper when the two countries not only trade together, but united as one, they begin to use their shared skills and resources together, to create products and services for other countries”.
