On 18th April 2016, the delegation of VCCI visited New Zealand Trade Centre, opening up its cooperation with NZTC on trading and investment.
Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is a national organization which assembles and represents business community, employers and business associations of all economic sectors in Vietnam. To promote trade and business relations with enterprises abroad is one of its main functions. VCCI is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization having the status of a legal entity and operating with financial autonomy.
VCCI was received with warm welcome by executive director Wendy Mo, president Adam Martin, and all staff of NZTC. Adam Martin briefed the delegation on New Zealand’s sound economic development, premium New Zealand products and resource integration.
Followed the meeting, the delegation enjoyed fresh fruits, juices and a light lunch, and had further communication regarding New Zealand products and trading opportunities.
Vietnam Ambassador HE Nguyen Viet Dzung and Commercial Councillor of Vietnam Trade office Nguyen Kim Phuong also attended the event. Mr Nguyen Viet Dzung provided his special perspective, “last year, we had successfully signed the Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement with 12 countries including New Zealand. I hope NZTC and VCCI will be the platform connecting businesses from both countries under the TPPA framework”.
The delegation showed huge interests in honey, health products,skin care products, milk powder and many other unique New Zealand products, and made a ‘shopping spree’ in NZTC’s export and retail shop.
After lunch, the delegation made their way to NZTC’s gold suppliers, Fresh Direct, Go Healthy and Mr Chips. Fresh Direct is a large wholesale and importer of fresh produce in New Zealand, sourcing and delivering the highest quality fresh produce of New Zealand in the most efficient way domestically and internationally. Mr Chips is a leading potato processor which produces top-quality fresh and frozen products.
In the afternoon, NZTC hosted the delegation in a Maori Marae with traditional Maori welcome ceremony and a rich dinner. The whole hall is filled with joy and laughter.
According to the Chairman, General Director of VCCI, Mr. Tran Binh Trong, “thanks to NZTC, our trip is fruitful. In regard of milk powder, fruits, honey and other daily consuming products, New Zealand is endowed with exceptional natural conditions and makes it a significant supplying origin. We aim to establish long term partnership with NZTC.”
With the support of Vietnam government organisations in New Zealand and the embassy and VCCI, NZTC is very excited to bring more opportunities for both countries’ producers, exporters, importers to boost bilateral success.
